Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens: 'The Tan' + coffee

Hi Woofers

What's not to love about the Botanical Gardens? Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens was established in 1846 by Lieutenant Governor Charles La Trobe. Over the next 60 years this swampy site was transformed into the much loved landscape we know today. Everyone seems to have a memory of the gardens, from feeding the ducks (and occasional eel) in the lakes, enjoying the gorgeous panoramic views, or sitting under a big oak tree for a family picnic.

On this walk, we will walk on the track around the outside of the Botanic Gardens, or in more familiar terms, we will do'a lap of the tan'. The circuit is 3.8km. Dogs must be on a leash at all times during this walk. Please bring plenty of water (and a drinking bowl) for you and your dog. BYO poo bags too of course. After our walk, we will reward ourselves with a coffee at the Observatory Café.

Meet on the corner of Birdwood Avenue and Dallas Brooks Drive.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

    Hi everyone,
I would love to come. However, a lap of the tan is too much for me and my arthritic knees. Also, my new pup, Clancy, is 12weeks old, 13 weeks on Tuesday, and he has limited stamina as well. I could either meet you at the entrance and go straight to the coffee shop, or join you at the coffee shop later. Any idea what time you will finish your lap of virtue? Say 11 am?

I will be coming along with both dogs and no husband. Lets hope the puppy behaves so mommy doesn't get frustrated.
