The Melbourne Dog Walkers was founded in March 2011, and welcomes people and dogs of all ages and sizes, from all around Melbourne.
Our club is a place for dog-lovers and their dogs to meet and do fun stuff together. Our dog walks are generally around the inner city and Bayside areas of Melbourne. The walks are held about once a month. Since our club welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes (from Great Dane to Chihuahua), and we are now quite large in numbers, it is important that everyone keeps their dog under control at all times. With this in mind, I have decided that as we enter the fourth year of the club, we'll now "Take the Lead" and walk with our dogs on leads during our meet-ups.
The format of our walks is quite simple. We usually meet for a walk (for around 40 - 60 minutes), and end with a coffee and social catch-up at a kiosk or café at the end of the walk. The regular monthly walk is hosted by me (Kate), ably assisted by Philip (my husband) and Harry (the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel). From time to time, other members also help out with hosting walks. Please let me know if you're interested in being a host! All walks are free, and there are no membership fees for this group.
In addition to our monthly walks, Melbourne Dog Walkers also promotes other dog-friendly activities such as pub nights (with your dog of course!), and keeps an ear open for local council pets in the park days, doggie night at the open air cinema, and much more!
People are most welcome to join and come along if they don't have a dog, but enjoy canine company. There are always plenty of eager wagging tails lining up for an extra pat!
Looking forward to meeting you and your furry friends soon!
