Zero Dark Thirty

"ZERO DARK THIRTY is a military term meaning half past midnight – the timing of the actual mission to locate and eliminate the world’s most dangerous man, Osama bin Laden. The term also refers to the secrecy that surrounded the decade long mission to track him down.

Deemed the greatest manhunt in history, ZERO DARK THIRTY chronicles the declassified true story of the relentless pursuit by an elite team of intelligence and military operatives, working in secret across the globe.

Director Kathryn Bigelow reteams with her writer/producer from The Hurt Locker to reveal the intricate details behind the gripping chase, culminating with the now infamous raid on May 2, 2011 that ended bin Laden’s reign of terror."

5 Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Jessica Chastain), Film Editing, Sound Editing & Writing - Original Screenplay

* Let's meet near the ticket booth at 10.00 AM for the 10.20 AM (morning) session - look out for the Meet Up badge pinned to my bag. The film is 157 mins long so I'm sure we'll be keen for lunch for our post film discussion.

I've booked a table for us at Time Out Restaurant at Federation Square (http://www.timeoutmelbourne.com.au). Please bring CASH (a range of $5s, $10s and $20s) because they don't split bills.

As reservations have been made, please update your rsvp status by Friday 15-Feb if you don't intend to come. No shows are recorded, and it is unfair to the restaurant if less people show up than expected.

I can't rate it, it just horrified me. Something about that movie epitomises why the world hates americans.

Agreed. Nobody wakes up one day and just decides to be a terrorist.

I had expected pro US propaganda and gory scenes, but the post 9/11 story was fair and respectful. It was a well executed film, I thought the first scene was well conceived, and the final scenes realistic without the usual Hollywood dramatics.

Thank you for the members who turned up (only 1 no show), and I enjoyed our discussion at lunch. Hope to see you next time :)

Running horribly late Karen, so I'm going to change my rsvp to no just in case I'm too late to catch the movie.

Hi Karen, sorry newbie here do we just get tickets when we get there?

    February 14

    • Karen

Hi Deirdre, welcome to the group! We buy tickets on the day or you can buy them online if you wish. Since we are early birds, seats are never sold out on a Sunday morning. We might not all be able to sit together and we usually end up in clusters. Looking forward to meeting you.

    Hi All

Many thanks for your interest in watching Zero Dark Thirty on Sunday morning - please be at the cinema at 10.00 AM for the 10.20 AM session.

If you are planning a late Saturday night and/or you're not a morning person, please update your RSVP to "no" so the group does not wait for you. No shows are recorded.

I've booked a table for us at Time Out Restaurant at Federation Square. Check out the menu at the website: http://www.timeoutmelbourne.com....

Please bring CASH so a range of $5s, $10s and $20s would be helpful because they DON'T SPLIT BILLS. This means that you will not be able to pay for your portion with your credit/debit card.

As reservations have been made, please update your rsvp status by Friday 15-Feb if you don't intend to come. It is unfair to the restaurant if less people show up than expected.

If you only wish to watch the film and not join us for lunch, please let me know.

Looking forward to seeing you all :)
