Keeps business units siloed, leading to duplication of information, storage issues, does not foster trust and collaborative behaviours
Creating environments where people are comfortable sharing information and are able to collaborate. The introduction of technologies in knowledge sharing "hot spots" in the organisation can lead to adoption by other groups through example.
I have been attending the KMLF group on and off since 2000, when I commenced my MBIT. In my Business Analysis work I've tried to introduce collaboration and sharing activities to the work environment via intranets, document management or a KMCoP.
