Our first meeting

For our first meeting, let's get together on 3rd May so that Easter/Anzac day holidays are out of the way.

We will be meeting at Spiga which is an Italian restaurant.  It is recommended by Matt Preston, so if we don't like it, we can blame him.  It's Gluten friendly and has had a lot of good reviews.

If you are doing Geoff Lawton's PDC then there will be lots to talk about and share with everyone.

Bring any books, dvds, pictures that you think others might like to know about (can be on any topic that support permaculture and sustainable living ideas) as the more interaction and discussion the better.

As this is the first meeting, I will be looking for some feedback and ideas on how this group can be enhanced so that we all get a lot out of each meeting.  We can also discuss other locations that would be more suitable for our meetups.

I like to make a friendly suggestion for everyone to bring their own National dishes/favorite dishes for the next meeting/picnic for us to enjoy and shared the feast, take time to smell the roses and stimulate the senses. That way i believed we would probably be fully energy with clearer thinking of discussion.
I will keep in mind of the next meeting schedule and make an afford to recorded on my calender.

Does anyone know if this restaurant is vegan friendly? Thanks!

Hi Erin, Yes they have a few meals that are vegan friendly and some had feta/goats cheese so you could ask them to leave the cheese out. Here is there menu, if that helps. http://www.spiga.com....

Hi Helen, sorry I will not be able to make it.I have a previous engagement -work.
Perhaps we could have a space where we could post titles of our permaculture related books, vids, podcasts etc.Are we willing to share ? ebooks ,vids, podcasts, useful links, seeds or plants?

I'd really like to share the things we have. I'm going to try and set up the member's area in 'topics' so that we can collect a lot of ideas and information and have them collated and easy to find. If you can escape your work obligation for 3rd May, that would be really great as we can chat about how this group can be set up to help us all get the most out of it.

Apologies Helen - city meeting won't suit me. Maybe another time. I'm actually looking for a more local group. Traveling an hour on the train and city restaurant just has no appeal any more. Sorry.

Now if you want to meet in Nunawading/Blackburn/Vermont/Forest Hill area ... then I'm more than happy to host and provide organic snacks and even an organic meal. It's far less stressful and if the sun is shining we can kick off our shoes and sit on the grass in the back yard. Ot there is a park with big pine trees and fresh air 5 doors up from our place :-)

Don't mind me. I've suffered with fatigue / low energy all my life (making some progress now on a raw diet) so some outings seem daunting. If energy is good on the 3rd I'll see you there.

No problem, Robert. Hope you can make it, and I'm sure the conversation will be enlightening and energising... :-)

    Hi Helen,
I live in epping which is far from the eastern suburbs and so I don't mind that we have a different group that meets in the north. What is the meeting location preferences of members so far? thanks.

      Hi Solomon
I sent a reply but not sure if you got it. The first meeting is in the city, mainly because most people can get their relatively easily. At that meeting, I'd really like to see what area/places everyone would like our regular meetings at. As expected, everyone is spread out but if there's enough people in the northern areas, I'm happy to have some meetings in that location. Hope you can make it on Saturday 3rd May so that we can workout something suitable.

Hi, I am wondering if you are aware of the very popular Eastern Suburbs permaculture group, https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/gro...

    • Helen

Hi Gavin, I actually wasn't aware of it. I've often searched using the keyword Permaculture and nothing came up in Melbourne so that's why I started a group. I'll check out the Eastern Suburbs one. Thanks for your message.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
