The actual content will be driven by what people what to do on the day and the constraints of time. Please feel free to bring along any projects you are working on.

Important notes:

  1. If you do not have a RasPi yet please feel free bring a flash card (4 Gb SD card, ideally class 6) and you can probably have a play on a borrowed RasPi unit.

I have an FDI cable. I hope I can get Andy to show me how to make a console/tty connection. I'd suggest this will be useful for many others as well.

Thanks to everyone who attended. Nice to see the Raspian Robot -- looking forward to having it chase the Saturday Hackspace youngsters around the garage

hi John, if you can't wait until the November Raspberry Jam ... then, you can always drop into a regular HackerSpace meeting (Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings). Usually there is someone there with a Raspberry Pi and some hardware experience ... who'll be able to help you with an LCD screen attachment.

Hi Andy. That's a possibility. Any suggestions as to which one I should buy? I would prefer 8 line but 4 line would be ok. Would the following be easy to integrate? http://www.ebay.com.a...

As long as it is KS000066 compatible ... then, you'll be able to leverage off existing ways of connecting the hardware and using common software libraries.

Fellow Hackers. Unfortunately I cannot make this meetup but I dearly want to add an LCD screen to my RPi but I'm a software guy so to me it is hard to do. I have this idea for an LCD display in the kitchen which gives a continuous update of things that are important to the household e.g. "How many sleeps until Christmas", "How many sleeps until so and so's birthday" etc, What time the next train to the city is, the Weather, the cricket score (when there is a test match!). I'd be happy to write and share the software if somebody could advise me how to do the hardware.
