Melbourne SEO Meetup

  • Mar 5, 2014 · 6:15 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The topics for this meetup are:

• Saijo George - SEO Q&A

• Tim Connell - SEO/Conversions Highs and Pitfalls

• James Spittal - CRO Follow Up

Please note: The venue is the Limerick Arms Hotel (it's across the road from the Honey Bar).

We are now located in South Melbourne, with the new venue offering easy access to transport with details below, and also offering 2 large plasma screen TVs to do some presentations.

The aim is to run 2-3 presentations in the first couple of hours (with intermissions between talks so you can ask any questions and grab a drink), followed with some laid-back networking and drinks.

We no longer have to limit the number of people we can fit into the new space but please RSVP so we can advise the venue.

Here is their Google place listing but if you are having trouble finding me ping @chrisburgess@holidaypointau or call Michael on[masked] (be mindful my phone might be on silent if the event has started).

A reminder that we located upstairs, but feel free to ask the staff if you can't find the stairs.

I remember someone asking me about a direct link to get the review page just add the parameter ?review=1 to the end of the G+ page for your business .

    eg: for fed square :

Hit me up on Twitter :

or G+ : if you have any issues with it

Thanks so much Saijo for finding that information - greatly appreciated!!!! I mentioned to Chris Burgess last night that I would be happy to come along and help you guys use SEO techniques to optimize your own LinkedIn profile - I joined Linked in on 21 December 2003 and have nearly 4,000 contacts and generate business from it and help people get jobs from it. Before I submit a proposal, can you please tell me what sorts of 'inside knowledge' you would like to know and what information would be most helpful to you as a member of this SEO Meetup? I use LinkedIn from a technical, recruitment, career, business, marketing and networking perspective so if you would like me to share some tips, I need to know what would be most helpful to you....btw I am also on Google+, Twitter and Facebook so I can briefly touch on the cross fertilization process too....

Anthony posed a great question last night about how to convince upper management about changing the Ux of a contact form to increase conversions, and a product came to mind that i was reading up on recently Morae by Techsmith, What is Morae?

Morae A leading usability software, Morae removes the guesswork from your decisions and helps you make products people love. Record user interactions, efficiently analyze results, and instantly share your findings with anyone, anywhere.

I suggest watching their videos, but basically, you get screen recording software for multiple seats, that can also record from direct av input, like a video camera in a room, it can record from webcam simultaneously, and you get to monitor results in real time, remotely. What could you use this for?

Imagine 20 people testing your site, record their actions, get them to perform a task and listen and watch their face react to the website, analyze the data in another room.

As my first meet up event, I thought it was great. Lots of knowledge sharing and experience in a positive environment. With the boundaries of SEO shifting frequently the meet up environment provides valuable insight into how others are keeping abreast of changes.
