Hey guys I have been a member of Melbourne Silicon Beach for while now and working for a startup app called mbrace which we just launched in Australia. Its a quirky/fun dating app (like tinder) but you can set challenges within your profile and people can complete them. Basically, I've been asked to pull together some feedback and immediately thought of this group. So I would love your tech feedback ... https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/mbrace/id687770697?mt=8

I might as well introduce myself as well ;)

I'm a freelance software developer specialising in web application development. I'm looking to meet people in the business tools domain - specifically people interested in BPM, ACM and the like to see if there is an opportunity to build affordable cloud based products to enable SMEs to maintain their agility.

One product of mine is already released, a BPMN editor: http://rigrr.rapilabs.com

Another product is already under development which will be an "Adaptive Case Management" (ACM) system.

Looking forward to the next Silicon Beach!

Great to hear about so many new business ideas last night.

If you're launching a new venture and want to get the message out without a budget, you should join the Melbourne Upvote Co-op.

The purpose of the co-op is to up-vote each other's submissions on Hacker News and Reddit, like pages on Facebook, and re-tweet announcements, helping to spread your message far and wide.

Even if you don't have a venture to promote, joining the co-op will help out Melbourne's start-up community and keep your finger on the pulse of Melbourne's entrepreneurial activity.

Join at http://www.darkside.com.au/upvote/ - and admire the old-school hand-coded HTML!

Ok, would be nice if there was a more structure way to introductions - perhaps some people to move around just introducing people to one another. Also, very disparate expectations amongst the very different groups... Many seemed on very different wavelength to others

I think the meet up has grown and may require a structure like a non profit organisation to hold quarterly meets for a small fee........ I also think a forum using Vbulletin software that can have dedicated topics.

      February 8, 2013

    • Gary G.

How much do you think the community will pay for a monthly or quarterly fee? Are you thinking of having a forum for ongoing discussions?

Pleasure meeting many driven and lateral thinkers last night. I'm looking to get more exposure for Melbourne start-ups on Shoestring.com.au so get in touch on twitter @steveglaveski if you are running an interesting start-up with an equally interesting story or need for some media exposure to help you get to that next level.

20 years ago, I was using code generators, is this similar in concepts - sorry...not so technical now.

      February 7, 2013

    • Arash

Well, either code genned or hand written still it is code, it is fixed, not opportunity to change it in runtime. FlexRule let you change the behaviour on-the-fly in production environment. No need to change your code, compile or deploy... :)

Hey everyone! It was a pleasure meeting you all, and there were some great startups going around! I'm Ben from http://squareweave.com.au and unfortunately I didn't have time to meet everyone tonight. If you're interested in meeting up for a chat over some coffee, feel free to grab me through http://au.linkedin.com/in/bnrchrdsn/.

Secondly, I'm running a project to get aussie startups more public attention. If you're keen, jump onboard at http://bit.ly/aussiestartups and I'll include you in the beta list when we launch.

Thanks for a great night Silicon Beach organisers and Uber!!!

Hi all - since there's a few people taking the opportunity to look for cofounders - I thought I would do the same. I'll be along tonight too. Briefly, I'm looking for a versatile person, comforatble in coding and a bit of business. We have an education platform for universities with 40x schools and 15k users, but need to keep moving - looking for a cofounder who'd be keen to apply for a couple of incubators with me, both in Australia and o/s

We will be opening our Australian Law office (spouse) and Business consultancy company (Self) in San Jose in September 2013 and wil be happy to assist Australians with introductions.

      February 7, 2013

    • Melvin C.

See..we are now using technology more effectively. Anyone who comes should post..here and find out who are their possible compatible partners could be before a meet-up. After a few drinks, you will not be very effective seeking partners.
