Lets go play with foam swords and wooden sheilds

Come experience the fun of wielding a boffer (aka "soft sword") to win the day versus friend and foe alike. Learn the fundamental strikes, blocks and footwork of ancient swordsmanship methods and then pit your new-found skills against your fellow Geeks in various battle games and competitions.

Roughly two hours long. During/afterwards, participants are invited to grill out potluck-style, bringing a little something to share with the others. Interested parties may list what they plan to bring below so that we can coordinate.

I'm planning on grilling out hamburgers for everybody, and bringing fruit salad, too. If someone could pick up some twelve-pack sodas and chips and stuff, we could take a break halfway thru and get our grub on.

As someone who is new to the area, but has been larping ( two different larps) for about 4 years now I am ober excited to find this meet up. Granted I've always been more of a spell caster I do have a sword and a board to run around with.

This group has been simmering in the background for awhile. All it really needs is a handful of functional swords and a reasonably central location for people to meet at. There's definitely interest here. Coordinate with Brian Starr.

    Hey guys,

Do any of you know where the cheapest place to purchase PVC pipe and foam are? I have the BEST idea for a funny weapon and I want to make it. Let me know!

I have rolls of blue camp foam if you want to build some durable, layered soft swords. You can buy the blue foam camping mats at Wal-mart of course.

I'm definitely interested but have never LARP'ed before and I lack any kind of weapon (at least that isn't a real blade and would cause sufficient damage.....OVERKILL!...sorry couldn't resist) Will there be extras?

This sounds fun. We used to do this in high school, larping in woods and parks. If we can gather 4-6 people this will definitely be fun.

I recommend those of you interested in learning more about local LARPing to attend GameConMemphis. There will be other LARPers there - especially on Saturday. I'm pretty sure they will also have some introductions to LARPing. You can get more information about the con at www.gameconmemphis.com.

I am a LARPer, my old LARP was KANAR based out of Milan MI. I just moved here on August 30th and I am looking to meet like minded people. Do you guys role play or do you just do battle stuff?

Yeah, I'd want to wait until we had more people anyway to meet up. My sister might join us (she's getting back from vacation tomorrow).

If you can get at least four people together for this, that'd be great. Brainstorming dates/times?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
