Today was the Contagion movie meetup. One person RVSP’d with the “Memphis Independent and Foreign Film” group and four people (and guests) RVSP’d with the “Memphis Movie Meetup” group. Only one person showed up for this event. Another person was nice enough to change his/her RSVP status a couple of hours before the movie started, so I knew not to look out for him/her. I can’t believe I’m having to write an email on September 11th about human decency and common courtesy—but, alas, here I am. If you can’t make it to a meetup that you’ve already RSVP’d for, I totally understand. Things come up. But please be considerate enough to change your status at least two hours in advance, so I can:
I drive up from Horn Lake, MS to attend these meetups, and I would rather not waste my gas if no one is going to attend.
I don’t get paid for organizing these meetups—in fact, I have to pay Meetup organizer’s dues, and it’s days like this that make me wonder why I’m doing this.
Thanks for your consideration in the future.
