HERB PARSONS - First Saturday of Every Month

THIS IS A 5.5 MILE+/2-4 HOUR HIKE AROUND THE LAKE... Come join us for a hike around Herb Parsons Lake. This place is close by - less than 5 miles from Collierville and just a bit more from Arlington. See directions at the link below. Much of the hike is lake side with great views. You will love it.

We will meet near the deck at the store/bait shop (you can see it as soon as you pull into the park). Bring snacks, water, sunscreen, and a hat. Wear and either sneakers or hiking boots and dress in layers. It is also good to bring a backpack if you wish to remove layers. Bring bug spray. Ticks are becoming a problem so make sure your bugspray works for ticks.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!

If you use google maps, it will tell you to take 40 E to 64 E to 269 S. 269 S is actually 385. Google Map of our regular meetup locations.

Be careful at Parsons and stay together. Safety in numbers!

Gavin, we will be delayed, possibly won't make it. We may come later and go the opposite direction and meet the group. If you can, let me know which direction y'all take, so I can take the other route. Thanks.

David, the policy on dogs is that they aren't allowed on hikes (due to liability reasons), but if the hikes are ones sponsored by the State Park system, they are (because their policy is different). So, for instance, one of our Assistant Organizers, Ranger Sam Cox, works for the park system, and her hikes will almost always allow dogs. Hope this helps to clear up this policy.

Nice hike. Had quite a few people show up, and some showed up late, but caught up with us on the trail. Lots of good conversation, and good people, including 4 children, who all did a great job!

We are headed out clockwise around the lake. Anyone who arrives late can catch up with us. Tennessee Trails Assoc. Will also be on the trail at 10:00, so you can hike with them, if you arrive very late.

I wish this started at noon. I have a dance class from 9-10 on Saturdays and I'd need an hour to change and drive.
