Village Creek State Park - Wynne, AR - carpool/caravan meets at 8am

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE HIKING PLACES IN OUR AREA. Village Creek is a beautiful state park atop Crowley's Ridge just north of Forrest City, AR - about an hour drive from downtown.

We will hike the Old Military Road and part of the Trail of Tears at Village Creek State Park. Rated moderate with some good hills. We will break/eat at the Swinging Bridge across Village Creek.

Meet at the park visitors center at 9:30 - or carpool/caravan meet at Poplar Plaza parking lot (poplar and highland) to depart at 8am - (exact spot forthcoming since there is construction at Kroger).

This is a no pet hike.

Awesome hike. Excellent variety of terrain, and the mushrooms were out in force! Good pace, good company. This is definitely on my 'repeat' list.

Is it too much trouble to just stop there so I can catch a ride. It is right on the way. How do you know what Howard wants to do, Julie?

David, we will not be stopping there - join the caravan if you see us passing thru or see you at the visitors center

expect 100% humidity and some muddy shoes, but radar shows the rain moving across to the north - so THE HIKE IS ON!

we will meet in the Poplar Plaza parking lot just off Highland turning in on Plaza Ave (just on the right off Plaza). The address for Kroger Poplar Plaza is 3444 Plaza Ave for your gps. Plan on getting your feet muddy - even if it doesn't rain anymore - parts of the trail are like the bottom of a ditch. I will post if the hike is canx due to weather by 7am.

This park has very nice campgrounds if anyone is considering going over the day before. I would call ahead and check on availability as it is popular.
