1ST EVER CAMPOUT AT SHELBY FOREST – please read completely…

I have posted this for both Friday and Saturday nights because people have posted interest in one or the other or both nights.  Since I haven’t camped in years, I am only confirming that I will be there Friday night.   I should arrive around 3:30 Friday.  If I live through it ok, I will stay Saturday night.  Please COMMENT on the post if you are for sure staying Saturday night so others will know.  There is no or limited cell service in the area.  RAIN WILL CANX THIS EVENT FOR ME!

Every camper must check in at the visitor’s center.  Let them know you are with Memphis Outdoor Adventures and we can try to get sites close together.  You can’t reserve a spot (they do have 5 reserved spots, but they are already taken.) – they are first come first served.   There are a total of 49 spots.  They allow 2 tents per site – so you can try to find someone to share the site with by posting in the comments or emailing them.  I think sites are $20 per night – each have elect, water, grill and fire ring.  There is a bath house – not in great shape – with showers.  Fires are allowed in the fire rings and we can scavage for firewood (anything dead and on the ground) or can buy wood at the Shelby Forest General Store or if you have some – you may want to bring some.

I am not planning any food events – if anyone wants to make any suggestions about this, they can post COMMENTS.  Everybody is responsible for feeding their party.

I will post some events (hiking and otherwise) separately so that if you don’t camp, you can come out for the hike…
