Those elevations seem a bit off - I found this online:
Shelby County Elevation High: 423 feet above sea level at the southeast corner of Rosemark and Tracy-just south of the Shelby/Tipton county line. Low: The Mississippi River is 188 feet above sea level.
I agree the latter half of the profile doesn't look right. The first few hills look reasonable.
Ken, is your altimeter barometric or GPS? Perhaps the battery was low or the GPS signal was degraded on the way out.
It is a Garmin GPS. Yes the battery was getting low toward the end. If you look at the other picture you can see sections where it wasn't working at all and then caught up. The two peaks on the right were on the side trip we took and correspond to the same point. Going out it measured 762 feet and coming back the same point measured a little over 600 feet. I find it hard to believe that we went up and down 600 feet on that side trip. Also the two peaks should have been identical in shape and they aren't. Notice that the area between them is symmetrical however. My guess is that we turned around at the 4.5 mile mark and headed back. It does show the steep climb at the end however. Consider it an approximation of the trip.
