Wellness Recovery Action Planning groups - Berkeley

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan®, or WRAP®, is an evidence-based practice used worldwide by people dealing with mental or general health challenges and by those who want to attain the highest possible level of wellness. WRAP focuses on wellness and wholeness rather than illness and sickness. PEERS offers a series of groups designed to give participants the tools for improving their own lives.

I too am traveling for most of the month of May but hope to be able to come to an event in June! On the topic of the recent Lake Merritt Walk check out this article in the New York Times about how walking spurs creativity. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/04/30/want-to-be-more-creative-take-a-walk/?comments#permid=[masked]:[masked]
This is a great article and very validating. The field of Recreational Therapy has understood the validity of this approach for decades. Also important is keeping it weigh neutral. I find the minute I tie walking or any pleasurable exercise into weight loss goals or calorie in calorie out measurements, the desire to exercise flies out the window; especially when the weight loss results don't materialize.
Sorry for the long post, I am just bummed about missing the Lake Merritt event since that is where I conduct my Dr. Deah Walkie Talkies Therapy sessions.
