MentorMeMentorYou for Men was inspired by the original MentorMeMentorYou (for Women) and is a group of mixed aged men coming together to exchange life experiences, ask questions, listen, and share from the heart in confidence that what they say will be heard and respected without being judged. The idea is that we all have life experiences that were hard earned and often came at the end of a long road of pain and struggle. These strengths in some cases could not have been gotten any other way; we had to learn our life lessons the hard way. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t be of excellent use to someone else who may be struggling from the beginning of that same road. We are a group mentor/mentee mutual exchange. No one is strictly a mentor or mentee; we all play both roles. Also, no one is an expert on anyone else’s life, and there are no “you should”s. Some topics, but certainly not all, might include: Career, relationship issues, parenting, aging parents, aging selves, animals/pets, addiction or toxicity within your small or larger family, frustrations with friends and family, sustainability, keeping up with technology, divorce/separation, teenage rebellion, food and cooking, school choices/homework, depression, infidelity, identifying personal strengths, guilt/regret, phobias or neuroses, finding quality time for your children and for yourself, feeling overwhelmed, wishing you had a crystal ball, mixed families/stepparenthood, illness and its effects, control issues, dating, higher or continuing education, finances, boundaries, as well as philosophical issues such as finding your place and meaning in the world, spirituality, forgiveness, questioning your belief systems and those of society and perhaps your partner, family or workplace, seeking peace, letting go of judgment, learning to trust yourself and your instincts, seeking your personal truth, cognitive dissonance, building community, what is it to be a man in 2013?, identity, roles, responsibilities, finding your center, courage, compassion, trust, humility, commitment, strength, passion, transformation, emotional maturity, listening, sharing, understanding, living an authentic life, a life of purpose - for yourself and those in your circle. We usually meet in Seattle, varying locations and days to meet the needs of the group. Are you ready? Join us.
