Lets hike up Baldpate Mountain, starting at the Fiddlers Creek Road, Titusville, NJ park entrance. This is a moderate to strenuous hike up the hill with some rock steps. We will hike to the small pond on top and then do the back loop or walk left along the ridge and end up at the meadow picnic tables. Bring water and I suggest a small pack to carry a jacket. Bring your oldest hiking boots/sneakers (it can be muddy in spots), lunch or snacks if you like, the top has great views and sun. For those that are not up for hiking the hill, there is a paved access road to the top. This access road is right next to the park parking lot on Fiddlers Creek Road. After driving to the top, the meadow/picnic tables we plan to rest at are a few hundred yards above the access road parking area, and bathrooms near the buildings. The Fiddlers Creek Park entrance is very easy to get to, but keep in mind there are three other park entrances on three different roads (River Rd, Church Rd, Pleasant Valley) that your GPS may try to take you to. Directions: Get on River Road (Route 29) going North from 95/Washington Crossing Bridge, or South from Lambertville. Going North on River Road from 95/Wash Cross Bridge, pass Wash Cross intersection on River Road, go straight through Church Road (in Titusville) intersection light. After passing a small gas station on River Road it becomes nothing but woods and the canal is visible on the left. Fiddlers Creek Road is on the right off River Road, about 1-2 miles above the Church Road intersection. For hikers: the unpaved parking lot entrance is less than a quarter mile from River Road, on the left off Fiddlers Creek. Drivers: The paved access road that goes to the top is on the left just before the parking lot entrance on Fiddlers Creek. Hikers, lets meet at the unpaved parking lot at 10 AM, hike starts around 10:15. Drivers, you have more time to meet us at the top. If you drive up alone, this is a popular, well used and therefore safe park on top.
