Starting and Running your Nonprofit Workshop
$50 if you register by 8/7/2011; $60 after 8/7/2011

Participate in this 6 hour innovative session provided within a classroom setting, guiding you through the process of starting a nonprofit and creating a self-directed, customized grant proposal and fundraising plan for your organization.

Bring your project or scenario, course presented with material in easy-to-understand, hands-on exercises allowing you to develop a grant and a fundraising plan as you learn new fundraising skills. The activities and exercises are designed to help you:
Define and plan your goals
Find fundraising methods that work
Learn to write grants that get funded
Leverage time and resources
Fulfill your mission to your clients

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Maintaining a healthy nonprofit organization requires healthy practices in governance and management. This nonprofit organization development workshop is geared to develop those healthy practices in your nonprofit including developing and raising funds.

This workshop is intended for nonprofit staff or board members with little or no grant-writing or fundraising experience. It will give you the confidence and know-how to develop a successful grant proposal, this workshop will proceed step-by-step through the development of a proposal. Laptops are welcome. Tuition includes lunch.

Decide If There Really is a Need for New Nonprofit
How to Classify Your Nonprofit With the IRS
Learn to create a successful funding plan
Understand funding environments and how to navigate them
Learn how to view proposals and how funding decisions are made
Write effective, professional and marketable proposals
Know the do's and don’ts of successful grant writing
Learn to recognize common grant writing mistakes
How to identify and evaluate the most appropriate funding sources
How to supply the documentation and statistics necessary for supporting a grant proposal

OUTCOMES
Learners who complete this workshop will achieve the following outcomes:
Recognize key roles in your nonprofit
Learn basic structures in your nonprofit
Work through scenarios and/or your own project ideas to develop statements of need and other grant proposal components
