We talked briefly about latency compensation at the last meetup. Good article on the topic:

Really enjoyed my first Meteor meetup and look forward to next one after I've become a more experienced user. Look forward to sharing a lightning talk around our app development with this framework. Thanks to Charles for organizing, Frederick for his talk and thanks again to ActBlue! Great venue for this session I thought.

Hello, thanks for attending the talk.

    The slides are here:

I also strongly recommend Discover Meteor as linked by E B. It is by far the best single-source location to learn how to use Meteor.

"The Meteor Book" was highly recommended at the meeting:

The issue of subscriptions inside a reactive computation came up tonight - I think this is one of the things that Meteor does particularly well. The docs describe exactly how it works, but the information is not in the place where you expect it:

    Quoting from ...

In addition, the following functions which return an object with a stop method, if called from a reactive computation, are stopped when the computation is rerun or stopped:

    - Deps.autorun (nested)
    - Meteor.subscribe
    - observe() and observeChanges() on cursors

    (End quote)
... so when you Meteor.subscribe inside an autorun function, the subscription is automatically cancelled when the autorun method re-runs.

I always gain useful knowledge at these meetings. Splendid victuals as usual.
