First meetup: Hello world, Meteorites!

Let's meet together first time. I am planning to prepare some introduction with demo for people who don't know what is meteor and how to start. Then we can talk about what we want from this meetup - is it more technical aspects, or maybe we can build something in the future, hackathons. We should discuss how often you want to meet together and a lot of other things. So, there is a lot of possibilities and I am free for your suggestions.

18.00 - 18.15 - Meeting and communication

18.15 - 19.15 - Introduction to Meteor framework - Pavel Kurnosov

19.15 - 19.30 - Break (hopefully I will have some food and drinks:) )

19.30 - 20.30 - FastRender: A Game-Changing Meteor Package -

Kevin Kaland

Contact me if you have any good suggestions.

I got FastRender working on my application in the end. This was the trick: https://github.com/arunoda/meteor-fast-render/issues/22#issuecomment[masked]

Normally, Meteor publishes the current user as an unnamed collection (meaning that all users automatically receive it without having to subscribe). However, FastRender *always* has to subscribe server-side. So I just copied the publish function from the client file in the accounts-base core package but named it currentUser. Then I subscribe to this in my FastRender.onAllRoutes() call.

So...in the end it was actually pretty easy, if not a little time-consuming to find out how easy it was.

Enjoyed the meetup and got ideas for my own in my region. Thanks for letting me present! I learned a lot when I delved into FastRender.

    Wanted to show, but can't.
I've done a couple of projects in meteor if anyone is interested to look at it. Just ping me if you want some source code.

-One is a chat (guess the most obvious thing to make).
-The other is a presentation of a rss-feed from nav.no-posts where it parses the feed and converts all the adresses given into geolocations and shows where a job posting is on a map.

I gave a talk about how to create Meteor accounts (accounts-password) from a Drupal site. I could give that one in the talk slot if you think it is interesting enough. Should be easy to google for, if not I can link later. I am also interested in arunoda's new FastRender package and I would be willing to prepare a talk on how I implement that in my Meteor app, Spendflow.
