Have you experienced kirtan before? If so, how?

I practiced chanting when I studied yoga under Swami Satchidananda several years ago but not recently. I've had the pleasure of chanting with Krishna Das back in NYC and at similar public events, but again that was several years ago. My interest in joining this group is a desire to recapture the joy found in chanting that I've been missing. I'm doing some self study on the voice and sound healing, focusing on overtone singing and would love to meet others interested in the same.

Do you play any instruments?

I play the Native American flute, frame drum, bodhran, didgeridu and looking into getting a tamboura to accompany myself when chanting and overtone signing. Perhaps I'll be able to play at our kirtan session if desired.

What spiritual path do you follow, if any?

I'm fairly eclectic. I don't follow a specific tradition but attracted to zen, insight meditation and Native American perspectives of the spirit

I live in southeast DC, a community organizer for a major enviro organization, love music of all types, like to laugh, enjoy the natural world, life long learner of everything, good friend, good listener & like to converse on a variety of subjects
