Metro Denver CRES - Monthly Membership Kick Off Meeting

Renewable Energy Policy at the Colorado PUC
In this presentation, Vince Calvano will provide a snapshot of a few of the most important dockets at the Public Utilities Commission (PUC). Some of the policies he will update us on include: the Net Metering Debate/Docket, the Solar*Connect program and the current RES Compliance Plan. Come join us to learn about the latest renewable energy policies and issues facing Denver and the state of Colorado.

About the Presenter
Vince earned a JD and Masters of Studies in Environmental Law at Vermont Law School in 2008 and has been actively involved in solar and renewable law in Colorado since 2010. Vince has represented the Colorado Renewable Energy Society in several Public Utility Commission filings, and represented COSEIA’s Southern Colorado membership in negotiations with Black Hills Energy to continue on-site solar generation. Currently, he represents COSEIA in its intervention in Xcel Energy’s Renewable Energy Standard Compliance Plan proceeding, and CRES in Xcel’s DSM Strategic Issues docket.

The meeting format will be as follows:

6:00-6:30pm - Social time and networking
6:30-7:00pm - Presentation and Q&A
7:00-7:15pm - Announcements
7:15-7:45pm - Wrap up and networking

Light appetizers will be provided for free on a first-come, first-served basis, and drinks can be purchased on your own from the venue.

I am trying to become a CRES Metro member, but the web page for membership is empty as well as the contact page. Does anybody know how to pay membership dues online?

Dave, thanks for bringing this up. The website was just revamped and this feature still needs fixing. I'll be talking to our web specialist in an hour and bring it to her attention.

CRES-Denver might consider a school auditorium for bigger meetings. I just talked to my daughter's principal who said buildings are rented all the time for a nominal fee. Here are 2 links for DPS. http://schooluse.dpsk12.org/DPSCommunityUsePolicy
    http://schooluse.dpsk12.org/communityusefeeschedule
All have ample parking, some have splendid auditoriums. Problem may be kitchen use because it requires paid staff which drives up the price.
It's also worth is looking into churches, perhaps Colorado Interfaith Power and Light can help identify friendly candidates.

Finally the chapter may want to buy a portable PA system with mikes. They start at $200 (Behringer) and just work. One of those and a projector can turn any room into a suitable venue.

Wish I could but I'm wanted at my daughter's "Math & Science Night" tonight.

As for Colorado Interfaith Power and Light: Talk to Elias Burgos: [masked] He organized the Creation Care conference last November and works with several area churches on PV solutions.

I will be workin at selling solar .... I look forward to reserving time off for the next get together!

I have been reaching out to DBJ and Denver Post to cover the "real PV solar issues" here in Colorado.
