Hands-On Studio lighting

Hands-on is the best description for this Meetup.  If you've been curious about studio lighting equipment and how to use it, this is the Meetup for you.  Hoa has graciously invited us to his studio to learn more about the topic.

We will have multiple lighting setups for you to familiarize yourself with and to actually use -- so don't forget to bring your camera.  If you are in need of a new professional head shot for your resume, etc., then bring along something to pose in.  We'll answer any question you might have about studio lighting and show you some of the more common lighting setups.

Since we need to limit this Meetup to 20 people to keep it manageable, out of fairness, please do not sign up unless you're already sure you can make it.  If you miss the initial signup, put your name on the waiting list, quite often you will find yourself being included in the end.

I always appreciate all of the work that is put into the workshops. It is so generous of you who are professionals to offer such good teaching.

Hey Ben, I was wondering the same thing as Ruan.

    February 8, 2013

    • Ben D.

Dianne, I've corrected that. It happened because the cutoff was late last night and any changes that happened after that were not handled automatically.

  • Ruan

Hi Ben -- is there a way of having the RSVP automatically take in those on the waiting list as as those that are confirmed cancel?

    Leslie and Cindy,

The local Nikon Camera Club has been trying to get a group together to learn more about the NIKON D7000 for some time. Apparently, they are having trouble finding someone to "teach" the ins and outs of this great camera. The contact point for this event is located below.

By the way, I have owned/used a D7000 for some time. This is an outstanding unit. For starters, there are several good manuals for camera use out there. Take a look on Amazon for a couple.

Here is the NIKON CLUB address I mentioned:

Leslie - I have David Busch's Nikon D7000 on my Kindle.

This is inexpensive if downloaded instead of a hard copy. Look for it on Amazon.com.

    ok then, a question:
Any user of the D7000 interested in, well, helping me become more facile with it (just got it). I would swap a print of one of my paintings for ...

nikonian sounds great but I just blew all my play money on the camera, 2 lenses and some other stuff. I did get a couple of books too. If nothing better, we could get together and explore the cam. I think it's possible to 'learn/teach' with others by sharing what knowledge each has gleaned.

I think it wouldn't hurt to ask John Simpson to give a very beginners class in the D7000. He has owned lots of cameras and reads as much as he can about what he owns and I know he understands quite a bit about his new D7000.

The NIKON Academy most likely will be excellent as I have attended some of these in the past. Biggest problem here is the cost. Take a look at the local meet-up group (free) under this address:

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
