12-Mile Bicycle Tour of Detroit's Green Water Infrastructure (from Riverfront)

Green Water Infrastructure is one solution to help stop water pollution that damages our Water Wonderland. Bring your bike, or rent one there, for this moderate paced ride. We will see the Riverfront, Midtown, the east side & examples of constructed wetlands, rain gardens, permeable pavers, etc. Helmet required. Goes rain/shine. Rentals at the Plaza: Wheelhouse Detroit, [masked].  Make sure you call in advance as rentals fill up quickly.  Sierra Club is also happy to partner with the Detroit Branch of the NAACP on this event.  Guide: Melissa, 313- 965-0055.

Meet at 1pm: Rivard Plaza, 1340 E. Atwater - free parking adjacent. http://g.co/maps/mt2jf

Melissa, Patsy, Tom, Roy and Jerry - thank you for hosting such a wonderful ride. It was fun, informative and most of all, safe. Riding the streets and the river walk and seeing some of the efforts to help our environment was very inspiring!

Thanks for joining us on today's ride! Big shouts out to Patsy, Tom, Roy, and Jerry for helping with the logistics. Check out some neat videos of the places we visited today, http://www.youtube.com/sierracl.... Also, Sierra Club is involved in a lot of neat efforts to protect the Detroit and Rouge Rivers. Find more information at www.sierraclub.org/greatlakes.

Lastly, make sure you do something to protect our rivers and Great Lakes - consider taking our Great Lakes pledge, http://action.sierraclub.org/si...

This sounds like fun-- I am not sure if I can make it right now. If I do, I will need to work up to the mileage since I have not been out this year yet.

While the ride is twelve miles in length, we do make frequent stops to view parts of the tour (i.e. green roofs, rain gardens)
