Well, I read the directions again and arrived at Meijer's about 11:30 am. I drove around the west side of the parking lot looking for Sonic but there were no names on the backs of the bldgs. so I parked kind of centrally. Then I called home where I was told to go to the southeast corner. I asked if they were sure--yes. I went to the southeast corner of the parking lot. I waited there through a brief rainstorm, realized it was getting late and called home again, when I insisted all the instructions be read to me. I finally found Sonic. I pulled into the northwest corner of the Meijer's parking lot at 12:14 next to a red pick-up, chatted with Mak who had also waited in the wrong spot first, then left at 12:30. Hope you guys had a good hike and did not meet any tornados.

Hi, Pat - So sorry you first waited in the wrong spot and that by the time you found the correct spot, we were already gone (left about 12:10). Eight of us braved the weather (though the heavy rain on the way to the trailhead had us wondering) and except for 2 brief periods of light rain, we completed most of the planned 5-mile hike. Six had lunch at Stony Creek Roadhouse on 26 Mile - good food! Hope to see you the next time.

I'm sorry guys. I have a trip home I need to make at the end of the week, and I had little notice of it. I have a ton of things I need to get done before then. I hope everyone enjoys the hike and I will try to see you all at a future meet-up!

Sunday is suppose to be windy and rainy. Will the hike still go off in spite of possible poor weather conditions?

    Thanks....

    Randy

Depends on how good or bad the weather is tomoor morning. Check here @ 10:30am. One cannot depend on the forecast now to make a guess about tomorrow's weather.

Is this what they are calling speed-hiking?

I would prefer never to see a massasauga. :)

Haha. I very much prefer seeing and hearing a massasauga (I had absolutely no idea what this was. I had to google) but strongly prefer not to get bitten by one.

Actually, it is extremely unlikely we will see this small, very shy, not-very-poisonous snake - but it sort of makes for a bit of excitement to talk about it as a possibility. (As a group out hiking in nature, we often don't see much "nature" because we make so much noise - creatures hear us coming from a long way off and they run and hide!!!!)

    Never ever seen a beaver.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
