Canoe/Kayak the Huron River to MIlford and Back

  • Aug 3, 2014 · 9:00 AM

We will paddle one hour from the livery at Proud Lake, downstream to Milford. We stop in the town park and have our lunch, walk the town a bit, then paddle back up to the livery for a nice 3 or 4 hour day. Many herons, swans and kingfishers will guide us on the river. Must phone leader by 7/28 to reserve. Bring a lunch, and water, $21 each/canoe; @ $10 more for kayak.  Leader:  Inge, [masked]H.

Meet:  9am in Southfield at Tel-12 Mall, S.E. corner of Telegraph and 12 Mile Rd. Park facing Telegraph, S. of the Marathon station.

I just booked a kayak with Heavner at Proud Lake for 9am. Sorry I missed doing it with the group but they still had some available.

I hope we will have a sunny Sunday morning and enjoy our trip to Milford and back.
If you have your own Kayak, bring it.
    See you there around 9.45

sorry i did not rsvp by the deadline. i have my own kayak so have no issue with needing a reservation for rental. is it still open for people to join with their own boats?

Sometimes people pay a fee to have their own Kayaks transported upstream. If we are paddling back, what would the fee be for parking?

Hi, Joe - Sorry that I missed your point. You will need a state park "passport" which is $11 in order to enter the livery area which is a concessionaire of Proud Lake State Park. You may have already purchased that when you renewed your car license plate, in which case there is no fee. Joanne7925, MDOH Organizer

I would meet at the Heavner canoe/kayak rentals as I live closer to that.

I assume the $31 per kayak would be if you don't have one?

    July 10, 2014

    • Inge B.

Yes, the $ 31,-- is for the rental of the Kayak. If you have your own Kayak it will be a lot less. Can't tell you the exact price.
