Hike Inwood Trails @ Stony Creek MetroPark (NE of Rochester)

  • Nov 10, 2012 · 11:00 AM

We’ll hike about 5 miles on these level trails at a moderate pace.  Highlights include a pond overlook with possible wildlife sightings, a stream crossing (via bridge), open fields and woods.

Meet:  11am in Sterling Heights at Metro-Pkway (16 Mile Rd) and Van Dyke, (south east corner) west edge of Meijer’s parking lot, east of the Sonic Drive-in. Optional restaurant stop after. Joanne,[masked].

The Stoney Creek entry person directeed me to the nature center. That was not the right info! I tried to hike over to innwood but the trail wasn't marked. Finally made it around 12:00 and I hope I run into the group.

Hi-Will meet you at the trailhead at 11:30 am. Unless I get lost, which I frequently do. In my owm house!! Is it cancelled if rain, or just wear rain gear?

The current forecast for tomorrow's hike time is 30% chance of scattered showers so I think it will be ok. If the forecast looks like there will be steady rain, we won't hike and if I were you, I would not go to the trailhead.

Where should I meet the group if I go directly to Stony Creek Metro Park and at what time?

I assume it will be at the trailhead & parking area on Inwood Road, at the northern end of the park. Here's a map: http://www.metroparks...

I think 11:30 will be OK based on past experience.

BruceC - I prefer that you not respond to questions such as Violana's that are best answered by the outing leader. While your assumptions are correct this time, they may not always be and that could cause a problem for people reading your posts. FYI: I had already responded to Violana directly with the information she requested AND will also respond to others who request it. Also, I would have responded to you privately but could not since your "personal" page does not have an email link.
