Dr. James Langeveld BMT Patient Support Fund at University of Michigan for adult cancer patients’ expenses not covered by insurance
You are cordially invited to participate in the 7th annual Dr. Jim Euchre Party, which will be held on Saturday, January 26th 2013 Dr. Jim was a Beaumont doctor who on September 11, 2002, passed away at the age of thirty while waiting for a bone marrow transplant, leaving behind a wife and 1 ½ year old son. In the course of fighting his disease, some of Dr. Jim’s treatments were at the U of M Cancer Center. While there, his family saw the many financial hardships that the bone marrow transplant patients were enduring. This experience inspired the inception of the Dr. Jim BMT Fund to help these patients with the exorbitant personal expenses, not covered by medical insurance, which are incurred during the bone marrow transplant process. Thanks to hundreds of people over the last 9 years, over $140,000 has been donated to the fund. A $1500 scholarship is also awarded each year to a Utica High School graduate pursuing a career in the medical profession.
We realize that in these tough economic times, many people are suffering. However, we are again this year asking for those who are able to help to come together to support this cause. Please feel free to contact Jim Langeveld at (586) 739-8119 or (810) 499-9055 with any questions you may have. You may also email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We sincerely thank you for your past support. For more information about the fund at U of M or to make a donation online, please go to http://www.cancer.med.... Please join us again this year with your donation to help those who desperately need assistance.
