The Metro Vancouver Organizers Meetup is a group for Meetup organizers to share their ideas, suggestions, and issues, and to support one another.
What began as a force of nature, Trish and Laura struck up a famous friendship when they founded the original Organizers Meetup Group in Vancouver back in 2006. Trish remembers, "We created such a buzz with our enthusiastic group that we gained the attention of Meetup Headquarters. They sent a staff member from New York to Vancouver to meet with us and listen to our concerns. We had 24 members at that month's meeting, and Meetup HQ surprised us by picking up the dinner tab! Those were the days!"
Well, the original group is long gone and much has happened since then... many years and many Meetup events later...
With the formation of this new group, the Metro Vancouver Organizers Meetup, Trish and Laura are keen to bring back that old vibe and provide the Metro Vancouver area with a Meetup Organizers' group with a singular purpose:
"To build a vibrant supportive community that provides a safe forum for Meetup Organizers (and, Assistant and Event Organizers) to discuss ideas and concerns that come up while operating their Meetup groups."
The group will have no other motive; no flash, no spam, no support of commercial activity (by members or the public), no requests to co-host parties with other groups, etc...
In this group, we will meet every month or two and make use of the Message Boards to discuss issues of the day, and use our connections with Meetup HQ to find resolutions.
Our members span the range of Organizers who are new to Meetup and have recently started their first group -- through to Organizers with multiple/large groups with many years' experience. All are welcome.
What aligns us as members of the Metro Vancouver Organizers Meetup is our desire to build caring communities within our own groups, and our desire to share our experiences with other members here. By sharing our good experiences, others will learn, and by sharing our not-so-good experiences we will receive the caring support we can't find anywhere else.
