Tom Flynn(Free Inquiry Editor) to speak at FTW Humanists Meeting

The Humanists of Fort Worth are hosting a speaker from New York for our November meeting. Tom Flynn is the nationally renowned Editor of Free Inquiry magazine and Executive Director of the Council for Secular Humanism.

Tom will deliver a presentation entitled, "Who are Those Doubters Anyway? The Demography of Unbelief" which will include a lavishly-illustrated PowerPoint presentation tracing what pollsters and sociologists know--and what they get wrong--about the record growth in the numbers of Americans claiming no religious affiliation from the mid-twentieth century to today.

This special meeting will be on Thursday November 14th at 7:00 p.m. at Westside UU, 901 Page Ave, Fort Worth.

I regret I am out of town and can't attend. The Unitarians in L. A. pushed me down the road to rationalism and I would have enjoyed the presentation. I work in an industry whose employees use church as networking, but have no problem condemning anyone not toeing the conservative Texas line. I look forward to the next chance for a breath of fresh air. Close to retirement, I can post this and and jump in while not living in fear of the axe. Yes, Gallup, et. al., we are out there and often uncounted. Social fear is a corrosive thing.
