Our first clean up of our Adopt-a-Highway section will be this Sunday October 24th at 9:30AM.
We will meet on Highway 157 (Industrial Blvd.) south of Highway 183 (Airport Freeway) in the shopping center parking lot on the west side of Hwy 157 on the far east side of the parking lot just north of a restaurant called "Pockets". It’s just to the east of a retail store, “Ross for Less” I think. It is just across Hwy 157 from Home Depot about even with the front of their building. The address of Home Depot is 251 S Industrial Blvd, Euless, TX if you want to look it up on Google Earth.
As you go south on 157, look carefully to the right for the Adopt-a-Highway sign with “Metroplex Atheists” on it and we will be meeting just to the west of that sign.
When we gather there we will decide how we want to cover the clean up area. We talked about separating into two groups, one beginning at the north end and the other at the south but we didn’t decide.
Please, Please, Please, RSVP on this Meetup Site if you plan to help out. Randy needs to get a count of how many people will be there so he will know how many vests to get from TXDOT. They furnish the vests and the bags. Randy will be bringing water.
You will need to bring gloves, wear good protective shoes and a hat or cap is probably a good idea, long pants too.
We’re planning to have lunch after the clean up at someplace that serves beer. (I say “we” but I won’t be there as I will be having my right knee replaced and won’t be recovered by then.)
If you have any questions you may direct them to me tomorrow but after then please contact Randy as I will be “under the knife” on Wednesday. I know ya’ll will have a great time and I’ll be missing you.
