Protest "Reclaim Texas for Christ" Conference

This Meetup is dependent on how many people RSVP. This is on a Thursday so many people won't be able to make it. If there are not enough RSVPs to be respectable, we'll cancel this protest.

Check out the website here: http://www.reclaimingtexasforchrist.com/2011_conference.html

This is supposed to be non-political but check out why it is not here: http://tfninsider.org/2011/09/26/the-politics-of-reclaiming-texas-for-christ/

From their FAQ:

1. Is Reclaiming Texas For Christ a part of a larger national organization?

"Reclaiming Texas for Christ is an autonomous organization under the umbrella of Reclaiming America for Christ. We work with organizations or chapters within other states who have the same goal to connect, encourage, and assist clergy, and community leaders in reclaiming our states and our nation for Jesus Christ. In doing so, we also seek to educate and empower Christians to proclaim the gospel of Christ Jesus and defend the Judeo-Christian heritage on which our nation was founded."

Does that sound non-political?

It's been awhile since we protested. If we can get enough people, this would be a good time.

Please read John Hattan's response on the DFW Atheists page - he has done this MANY times before. Wooden sticks can be seen as weapons by the police. Please use the heavier stuff to make your signs from and plan on no "handles" - just in case!!

Are there any laws or ordinances about what our protest signs can be constructed of? Are there any banned materials, such as wooden handles, etc.?

So the protest will only go until around 1? I was hoping we'd stick around until after too, depending when my flight gets in I could maybe catch the tail end of it. I'd love to represent my foxhole atheist shirt

The "Reclaiming" is supposed to start at 1:00 so we were just going to protest from about noon until it started. If we don't get some coverage by then we're probably not going to get it.

I forgot to give credit where credit is due. This protest was Randy's idea.

Our regular monthly meeting is Sunday, Oct. 16th. If we don't have enough people committed to the protest by then, we'll cancel it Sunday Evening.
