Every third Sunday is our business meeting but we decided on having a party on Saturday this month, instead. From Terry McDonald, our host:
==========================================
If we need to conduct any business, we will do it on Saturday. Paula & I tried to arrange a get together with a theme but we're too late for the Solstice and too early for Halloween so take your pick: we're either celebrating this day in 1781 when the Patent of Toleration was approved by the Habsburg Monarchy that provided limited freedom of worship OR Mickey Mantle's birthday. Which ever you pick* we will be starting to gather around 3:00 pm and plan to start eating around 4:00 pm. The time is very flexible. We hope to accommodate early arrivers and late stayers. We plan to go into the evening until after Paula has fallen asleep. I will be smoking two beef briskets, a turkey and some bratwurst. I'm also making two big pots of pinto beans, one spicy and one for kids (and other wimps) and two large messes of potato salad (two kinds). If anybody wants to bring anything else, please feel free. I'm going to buy a couple of cases of Shiner Bock, a box of white and a box of red wine. We'll have soft drinks, iced tea and perhaps lemonade. Again, feel free to bring anything else you want to drink. We're hoping to have a large happy group like we did on July 4th. We're hoping this gathering of atheists will be as jovial and successful. If you have any questions or need directions, please let me know. Also, if you plan to come, please let me know as soon as you can so we can get an idea of how many to expect. If your plans change late and you find you can come when you thought you couldn't or that you can't come when you thought you could, that's fine with me. But if you're planning to come, please let me know so I can at least get a rough count. We hope to see you on the 20th, Terry & Paula * If you don't like either of them, you can celebrate this day in 1983 when the length of a meter was redefined as the distance that light travels in a vacuum in 1/299,792,458 of a second.

    Awesome. Terry & Paula are heroes. Great food, great people. I didn't get to drink much this time :-( but that was kinda my own fault.
