Metropolitan Walkers fun, sociable walks at all levels for people in their 20s and 30s
We organise walks in London and the South East as well as weekend trips throughout the UK. The group is part of a national charity and run by volunteers, and we welcome new members.
With 6 walks a week to choose from with everything from short evening strolls through London's parks to 20+ mile hikes over the hills, there are walks to suit everyone whatever your fitness level. We also do weekends away to a variety of great hiking destinations. All our walks are accessible by public transport which means they generally start and finish at a rail or tube station.
Outside of Meetup we already have hundreds of members from across London and our walks average 20-25 people. Here's what they say about us:
'It's fantastic: the range of walks is brilliant, lovely people, great volunteers.'
Make new friends Our members range in age from people in their 20s to early 40s. Most of our walks end at the pub - a great way to get to know fellow members. Our packed social programme includes restaurant meals, concerts, theatre shows, ceilidh dancing and a regular pub night.
Escape London As well as walking in the Capital and beautiful areas near London such as the Downs, South Coast and Chilterns, the group has weekends away most months to the UK's top hiking destinations such as the Lake District, Snowdonia, Cairngorms and the Peak District.
The number of attendees shown on Meetup is not reflective of how many will turn up. We advertise our walks in a number of places and you will find a good sized group of walkers on each walk.
At the meeting point we don't hold up a Meetup sign however you will recognise us as we really do look like a group of walkers in their 20s to early 40s and any of the walkers there can confirm they are Met Walkers.
The organiser identified on Meetup is usually different from the actual walk leader. The walk leader is identified on the description of the walk and contact details are provided.
