Join us for this splendid point to point hike, the next in our Hudson River Greenway series, between where we left off last at Haverstraw Bay and the town of Nyack, where we connected to last year!
Meet at the waterfront park in Nyack and we'll shuttle to the start with as few cars as possible.
The splendid walk will take us through various parks and interesting spots.
We will revisit parts of Haverstraw Bay Park, and see some abandoned rails, then turn south on other greenway routes, visit piers, and some abandoned rails, and then another right of way around Pecks Pond.
We'll do an out and back side trip to Bowline Point Park, part of which was a spur from the New York and New Jersey Railroad.
More pathways will take us directly on the waterfront to Emeline Park.
A new waterfront promenade will take us out along more scenic areas, and then a bit of walking on Riverside Drive will lead into Haverstraw Beach State Park. We'll then be on five miles of continuous off road greenway, which is actually an old abandoned road. We'll pass by Treason Rock, the legendary Benedict Arnold location.
At the end of this trail, we follow some back roads, and pass through two more parks, back streets, and a few more waterfront walkways to the end.
There is only really one little restaurant on the way on this one, and otherwise plenty closer to the end. Everyone should probably be prepared with enough food.
I have scaled off 14.3 miles, which allows for some wiggle room to explore little side things bringing it up to 15 total.
