Are you trying to lose weight and struggling to stay motivated and get active? Join our group where we will help and support each other while engaging in a little friendly competition at the same time.
The Premise of the group: Each competitor will pay a $20 membership fee that will go into the Biggest Loser prize pot. At the end of a twelve week competition period the competitor who has lost the largest percentage of their body weight will win the pot. The more members who join the competition, the bigger the prize winnings will be. The group will vote at the beginning of the competition if there will be one prize, or multiple prizes for the first few place winners.
The Meetings: There will be one mandatory meeting at the beginning of the competition for a weigh in and introduction and one mandatory meeting for the final weigh in and presentation of prizes at the end of the competition. During the twelve week period competitors may attend as many or as few of the meetings as their schedule allows and we will establish an online method for competitors to self report their weekly weigh ins so that we can track our progress. Meetings will be arranged by members using the Meetup "suggest a meetup" fuctionality and can range from a simple walk in a local park to trying out a Zumba class together. We also have a personal trainer who has offered to do 'boot camp' style training sessions on a weekly basis at a local track for a reduced rate for our competitors. If the group is interested we can also bring in speakers to discuss nutrition, exercise plans and other issues related to fitness and healthy lifestyles.
The Messageboard: We will use the boards to to exchange motivation, tips, recipies and information to help us all move towards our individual goals.
