Looking for substantive political discussion in Miami that goes beyond scandals and party politics? You may not think that a tourism and entertainment town would be home to people with a larger view, but as an international trade port with world class universities, such people are here, scattered about our sprawling infrastructure and not likely to bump into each other in a downtown coffee shop unless formally organized. I created this forum to provide such opportunity.

The specific device for bringing together like minds of diverse backgrounds and opinions will be informed discussion of the great political philosophers and how their writings are relevant today.

The Forum is for all college graduates or current students, academics, businesspersons, public servants/government employees, and professionals with an interest in political philosophy and in the current real-world importance of thinkers such as Plato, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Hume, Rousseau, Kant, Adam Smith, Edmund Burke, Hegel, Alexis De Tocqueville, John Stuart Mill, Marx, Nietzsche, and Heidegger. If you are tired of sloganeering and 24-hour news commentators and looking to go beyond the contemporary and the ideological, this group is for you. In applying the readings, we will focus on national policies and international affairs, but no special expertise is required in these areas.
