OK I had a LOT of people ask about this today, so I am reposting this event!!
Bayside welcomes 2013 with a day filled with entertainment and fun for the whole family!
Celebrate at this fun, free event with live music from local bands at the Marina Stage throughout the day, at midnight, ring in the New Year with one of Miami's largest New Year's Eve fireworks displays!
The Marina Stage is by Brookstone (so if you get lost, look for Brookstone and you will see the band and stage)...
We will initially meet at Bayside since there is seating available (and easier to meet as a group)... have a few cheap drinks at the outside bar. We usually get out-door seating (Blue out-d0or furniture to the LEFT AS YOU FACE THE STAGE)...
Then we will be off to Bayfront, to join in the Largest Dance Party in Miami! With DJ Tony the Hitman and count down to midnight with Miami's own, "La Gran Naranja" (formerly The Big Orange)! At the south end of the park, this New Year's Eve icon will slowly ascend the side of the Intercontinental Hotel, reaching the top at midnight in conjunction with a grand display of fireworks shot over beautiful Biscayne Bay. (yes, every other city Drops it, only Miami raises it... LOL)
Parking: There is parking at Bayside; but be prepared to pay a premium price ($20 or more)... Best bests are some of the parking lots around (estimating $10) or even street metered parking (about $2 hour)... It is suggested that you use public transportation if possible (people mover, bus or train)... Expect HEAVY traffic on Biscayne before and after... The Parking garage at the Miami-Dade Cultural Center is usually open and free (but expect to pay $5-10 just in case)...
If you cannot join us at 7pm, that is OK, come as you can. Just be
aware that the later yiou get the the more difficulty you will have with parking
and possibly finding the group... I expect big crowds so be
Also; you can bring your own party cooler - Beer, Wine, Alchohol,
food, snacks, etc... NO GLASS, 'Red-Cup' Rule will be in effect...
