Woodward Dream Cruise 2013

The 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise is slated for August 17th. I won't be here for this one but I thought I'd post the event for anyone interested in enjoying a festive atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to shoot some rolling classics. You won't be dissappointed with this event. The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world’s largest one-day celebration of classic car culture and attracts over one million visitors, and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles. There's no telling what you may see here! The Dream Cruise takes place along a 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue through eight host communities including Berkley, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak. Again, I won't be able to attend this year (kayaking on Lake Superior) so anyone interested in serving as event host please contact me via email! The weather helped. It was a nice day. Lots of sun, lots of cars worth taking pictures of, and lots of killer gas fumes!!!

    Sean,

Can you please stick around the designated area for our Meetup for some time. It will be packed on 13 and Woodward and I'm certain trying to find parking in the area may take longer than expected. Thanks!

I plan to be there to try out a few of my latest lens additions, but I'll be in the 14 mile area because I'm expecting to meet some friends there.
I hope to meet the group at some other event.

How about parking at Beaumont Hospital???? I remember parking there a few years ago. At that time there was no charge.

The parking lot by Rite Aid is typically full with classic cars. You are likely going to have to park on a side street or in one of the pay parking lots for the event. The parking lot behind the firestation and across from the park is probably the most convenient but I think costs $10.

I have gone for a long time the best place to park at 9am ish is a side street. Usually the krogger lot on the south west side does not have public parking that i know of. I know parking elsewhere for free has been hit or miss most business sell spots. Even myself when i volunteered as part of homeland security have to deal with the business owners.

I have been there for several years taking photos. 9m is a good time. it will be very uncrowded but people will have the cars out. I can help out with where to meet up at and where everything will be.

We will meet on east side of woodward Avenue on the south side of the Royal Oak Fire Department on 13 and Woodward. I will put a link to it and directions in a post soon. What to bring is water, a small poncho for rain just incase, and you can bring your tripod but know that there will be tons of people by 11 am. I would say that this event will go from 9-12 noon.
