Photo Share and FREE PIZZA at ProCam Livonia June 13th 6-9pm

Let's get together and share some photos, conversation, constructive critiques and ideas with one another on the big screen! ProCam in Livonia has very generously offered the use of their large and spacious studio to us for the evening so we can project images on a large screen and have an enjoyable couple of hours  reviewing our images and discussing photography. George (the owner of ProCam) has even offered to buy us pizza and refreshments. Two hours is just enough time to review plenty of photos and have a great time. Any longer and some of us would start to nod off.

ProCam is also offering special discounts on camera gear and accessories that evening for MPA members,so arrive early to take advantage of the sale.

The photo share will start at 7pm and end at 9pm,this will limit the time we can spend on each image so this is more of a image share and gentle critique.

This will be a successful event only if we get enough participation. It is FREE. You needn't have images to share in order to participate BUT that would be optimum. I really hope we can get three or four dozen of us there that evening. It would be great if two dozen of us would have 3-6 photos each to present and discuss. Maybe you've been to a really interesting place with or without other MPA members...Maybe you have some photos you're just not sure of and want some constructive, creative input...It's all good! Don't be afraid! It'll be painless! In fact it'll be great fun!

I do find these types of photo sharing events to be very fun and informative. I hope you will as well. If successful, we can have these types of events regularly throughout the year!

If you'd like to participate in the photo sharing presentation, please email me your 3-6 high res jpeg (please don't send raw) images no later than 9PM Monday June 9th I hope you can attend!

Truly inspired after attending this event and encouraged, excited for the newbies to photography...thanks to all who had courage to have their photos critiqued...thanks the food and planning the event...looking forward to many more!

I will add a few images from the event.
Please remember that these were taken with a tiny pocket cam, which has a "tinier" flash, and the room was dark, during slide show! They are not bad, even at ISO 800.

I enjoyed the evening -I didn't submit photos but I like the way in which the critiques were done and will submit photos in the future. I learned and was inspired. Thanks to all who participated (organized, critiqued, attended), and George for providing the space and food.

Being that I too, was not able to get to the early part of the gathering. I missed the food. However that did not bother me. I ended up walking in as the photo's were being shown. I wish to thank all who did present images, our host, and any everyone who had a hand at meeting the event enjoyable. Let's all do what we can to continue to make this little gathering a success.

Good have had better introductions for those like us new to the group. Too long of time for photo comments, needs to be shortened in time and perhaps done on a different day and starting a little later, fewer photos shared per participant would allow more comments for maybe up to two photos per participant and might help others make better photo selections.

Shoot, I wasn't done LOL... I think last night was great because it encouraged me and others to grow and learn more. I learned a ton of stuff last night. I sent my favorite pics and wasn't sure how they would look on the big screen, and guess what! I AM NOW ENCOURAGED TO GROW MORE AND LEARN MORE. It's not just about critiqueing, it's also about encouraging each other and finding the strong points in the new poeple's photo work. I take workshops with Thomas and he's a good teacher, and I went to the meetup to get encouragement. If I have a problem with something, I'm more likely to ask one or two or three people, but not to show it in a large setting.

I think those of us who are new all got advice and critiques on our work, that was not lacking at all. So I don't think you need to change the format, really. I think it was great.

Didn't get pizza, but throughly enjoyed the meet up. I learned so much.

Yes, more pizza! (although I did get one piece and that held me over. I feel bad for those who missed out.) I wouldn't mind a "kitty" on the table to help off-set the expense. A few dollars for a couple slices is easy to handle if it insures that everyone will partake. :) (just a suggestion)

We just got there late....not that there wasn't enough. But pitching in a few bucks not a bad idea.

I agree. On a weekend would be nice, especially with the horrible traffic during rush hours on Fridays, much worse nowadays due to the tear-up of I-96. It took me more than 90 minutes to get to ProCam (from Royal Oak). I didn't know about the I-96 construction in advance :(

Suggestion for the next similar event (if anyone agrees, please click "Like" so the organizers would know the level of interest to this comment):

Please allow 10 to 15 minutes at the start, before the slide show, for members to introduce themselves (simply as their names appear on the Group's web page), so we begin to know each other a little more, on the personal level, instead of a name on a web page.

Procam is always a gracious host and Thomas, Joel and Jamie did a great job with the guidance and direction that they gave on improving our images. These are one of my favorite events. :)

It sounds like a great meet-up, however it is way over on the West side of town for me. Shelby Township. If there is one close next time I will make it.

OK - no RAW pics, I can understand that well enough. Is there a targeted maximum resolution for the shots? I have a few I could send along in the 50-60 mpix range.

    May 5, 2014

    • Thomas N.

they will be displayed with a projector on a white wall, 1024x768 is the norm

      May 5, 2014

  • Lawrence Leverett J.

I get out of work at 6 so it'll take me 15-30 minutes to get to PROCAM from there depending on traffic. If we're not going to start sharing until 7 then that should be fine I think :)
