Be ready to talk about Excel and take notes!

Hi all, welcome to the MS Excel Refresher Meetup Group.  Our next Meetup is scheduled for Thursday, February 7th at 6:30PM at the Ansir Innovation Center. The February Meetup will focus on Vlookup formulas, Pivot Tables and of course your personal questions.

Be ready to take notes on the many tips and tricks that will be shared by your host and fellow members. Computers will not be available on-site so it is preferable that you bring your own laptop, but by no means is it required.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and helping to make 2013 the most productive year yet!

Please let me know of any questions that you may have, thank you!

Good morning gang. I came up with a solution when I was driving home last night. I was on the right track with my "COUNTIF" approach. I tested it when I got home and produced a working model. So if you downloaded the sheet, place the following formula in cell F4:
    =IF(OR(COUNTIF(D4:D9,E4),(COUNTIF(E4:E9,D4))),C4&" OVERLAPS","OK")

Sadly its not a full proof working model. I had a chance to test it by adding more lines and it fails... It works for the example, but not for additional overlapping date ranges. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Hope you guys have better luck :)

Was anyone able to assist the person on our LinkedIn group a few weeks ago asking about a problem with her list of names on one worksheet and the desire to remove the name from the first if it was used in the second?

      Hi Sony,
I don't know what is wrong with this system, but everytime I hit enter to drop a line, it closes the reply.

Apparently she did not leave it on our site, as I suggested at the time I made the announcement, but this is what she asked on Exel and Access Novice and Expert Users:

Can anyone provide some help with a logical formula?

I have two worksheets, on Worksheet #1 I have 9 columns that each contain a list of names. On worksheet #2, I have blank cells. When a name from the list is entered in that column, I would like for the name listed on worksheet #1 to be removed ...

Thanks Louis. I'm not able to view that group since it's locked by the owner. Can you tell if it has been solved for Sonya? Thanks!
