Hike, Reds, Whites & Bluegrass Picnic! Loch Raven Reservoir: Northwest Area Trails: An Easy 4 Mile Hike Plus Picnic to Enjoy A Wine Tasting to the Tunes of Baltimore's Best Bluegrass!

Let's enjoy a post hike picnic at Boordy Vineyards. They are having a Red, White, and Bluegrass event today.

"A relatively unvisited—and beautiful—section of Loch Raven Reservoir, doing its best impression of Gunpowder Falls State Park’s Wildlands. Wide and prominent trails parallel each other along the hills. This hike stays fairly level while keeping the reservoir a few hundred feet to the right below." 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles of Baltimore" by Evan Balkan, 2nd Edition

Please remember we are a social hiking group that values fellowship and camaraderie and practice good hike etiquette. We take breaks as necessary and have at least one guide in the front in addition to a "sweeper" in the back which means that no hiker is left behind. If you get upset because someone has to rest at the top of a hill etc. then please find another group! We are very supportive, encouraging, and focus on safety while getting or staying fit on the trail and practicing Leave No Trace outdoor ethics.

Note Regarding Refunds:
There are no refunds, exchanges, reselling, or applying the money toward a future event for this special event. Before you commit, I just want it to be clear so there would not be any possible future confusion. Please keep that in mind before signing up and have a great time.

Let's have good times and see you on the trail!

BTW, the trailhead parking area is located on Warren Road (see Directions page) just past Sherwood Road (on the left). There is parking on both sides of the road. Don't forget to also get directions to Boordy Vineyards if you are joining us after the hike. You can use the intersection of Warren Road and Sherwood Road, Cockeysville, MD as your starting point if the GPS coordinates don't work. See you Sunday.

FYI. Although this hike is on a wide trail with easy rolling hills most of the way, there are a few hills that are a little steep. Since there are some deep muddy spots on the trail (some are covered with several inches of leaves any hard to spot), we will have to be careful not to slip. I recommend bringing any walking poles you have for some of the slippery hills and the few streams that we have to cross on stepping stones. Also, if you are going to Boordy Vineyard afterward (I am), you might want to bring another set of shoes to change into. See you Sunday.
