Please remember we are a social hiking group that values fellowship and camaraderie and practice good hike etiquette. We take breaks as necessary and have at least one guide in the front in addition to a "sweeper" in the back which means that no hiker is left behind. If you get upset because someone has to rest at the top of a hill etc. then find another group! We are very supportive, encouraging, and focus on safety while getting or staying fit on the trail and practicing leaving no trace.

I enjoyed meeting each of you. Today was a great day to be outside and this hike was good. I drove up to the overlook to get a nice shot of the area we hiked, since our trail didn't feature any good vantage points. Thanks, John, for leading us at the last minute.

Hi All - Is anyone driving in from DC or going near a metro station before heading out to the trail/Centreville Park & Ride? I can meet anywhere near a metro and would chip in for gas and parking. Thanks!

Catie, me again. Forget about my previous message. I have a foot injury and won't be able to attend tomorrow.

Question about the hike: I just completed the Rock Creek Park hike on Saturday. It was my first moderate hike but had some strenuous parts - I had a little difficulty. Please let me know if any of the trails make a steep ascent or descent and if there are any rock scrambles. I need to plan accordingly and may need extra time. Thanks

    December 23, 2013

    • Suzanne

Thanks Kellie! I survived the hills in Rock Creek Park only needing a break at the top. I just needed to know if there were any surprises so I can bring my better knee brace and some hiking poles, but this looks manageable.

I have a kid with a stomach bug, so I'll have to pass on this hike. Thanks

I'm coming from Olney (near Rockville) and am happy to carpool. Let me know if you're interested.
