Hike in George Washington National Forest: Signal Knob/Meneka Peak Loop! A Strenuous 10.6 Mile Hike

This is a wonderful hike with awesome vistas and about the best we have yet to see in Northern Virginia. The terrain is very rocky in places and there are some serious hills.  While not as much elevation change as Signal Knob, it still earns it a strenuous rating.

The trail is situated only 8 miles west of Front Royal and it only takes approximately 1.5 hour to get there from the Metro Washington area, making it a gem of a hike and not too far and WELL worth the drive. If you carpool, the time will fly and you will make new friends along the way!

Hike Pace

This hike will lead a moderate pace of about 2.5mph

Note: Hike leaders reserve the right to turn hikers away at the trailhead if they come unprepared (flip flops, no water, not appropriately prepared for the elements, etc.) If you have any questions regarding anything related to this hike, the hike leaders number is posted below and we are all here to help so that everyone can have a comfortable and safe trip. We are always happy to help you make an informed decision but it is up to you to call or we cannot help you.

Rob He, sorry your GPS wasn't correct. How disappointing after driving all the way to GWNF. Hopefully, you will have another opportunity to enjoy this beautiful hike sometime in the near future.

Seems like you guys had a great hike. I was led by GPS to the middle of nowhere, and didn't have access to Meetup.com then. So I turned to Whiteoak Canyon-Cedar Run, which was fun as well. I need to read the word description for direction next time.

What can I say, this was a wonderful way to cap off the weekend. The weather held, perfect, the people, as always, a great group. Then the topper Dinner at the Main Street Mill in Front Royal, was able to talk with everyone that I cant keep up with on the hike. Thanks all for coming out and sharing the weekend and weeksend with Irina and myself.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
