How did you discover Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group (MAHG)?

Internet search.

What are you looking for out of this group? (walks, transition from walking to hiking, easy, moderate, or strenuous hikes, ultra hiking, or trail maintenance work?) Please state all that applies to help us plan activities to meet your needs...

Looking to hike more regularly and perhaps get into some more strenuous and longer hikes. Potentially into trail maintenance if I have time. But mostly looking to enjoy the outdoors, see different places in the US and meet new people.

Introduction

I'm a PhD Student at American University in DC (Anthropology). I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland. Love to get out of DC and go hiking in the surrounding areas, but don't do it nearly enough! Also into music, playing ukulele, baking, and filmmaking.

    The Washington Kayak Club

    Hi Sean,
Welcome to Washington Kayak Club. Every PhD student needs some outdoor diversions. We often launch from places where you can rent a kayak. Let us know how we can help you. You may want to consider building a traditional Greenland kayak someday. Some of our members have done so, using nothing except the materials and methods the inuits possessed (no sealskins available today, however). Julian, in our group, is an example.
