How did you discover Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group (MAHG)?

It was the first meetup on the "meetups in your area" page. Seemed like a great place to start 'cause I already love to hike but haven't had the chance to in a long time.

What are you looking to experience with MAHG? (examples: walks, transition from walking to hiking, easy/moderate/strenuous/very strenuous hiking, trail stewardship, classes) Please state all that applies to help us plan activities to meet your needs.

I am currently looking for easy to moderate hikes to join. I haven't been out on a trail since April of this year and don't want to push myself too hard too fast because my left leg has been irritated due to a combination of factors one being the manual transmission I was driving for several years. I love being outdoors but don't know many people in the area and those folks I did know have moved away (ah, DC and it's transient nature...). I am also intrigued by the idea of trail maintenance work because it seems to me that if I'm going to enjoy a trail I would like to contribute to its upkeep, but I am not sure what the work would entail.

I moved to DC three years ago for grad school and have finally finished all of my homework! Now that I have more time on my hands I want to get out of my house, move around, breathe fresh air, and meet new people. A good hike makes me smile!
