Schaeffer Farm MTB Area Cleanup

Come help remove trash from around the three entrances to Schaeffer Farm MTB Park.

An informal service day to pick up trash. Because all of the plant growth has died back for the winter, it is the perfect time to remove trash from around the three parking areas. Depending on number of people, the plan is to clean the main parking lot & road leading to itt, then the parking area at Black Rock Mill, then time permitting the new Red Trail parking area.

Did this cleanup last spring; we got 11 contractor bags of trash, and 14 yard bags of recyclables.

This is very informal. No prizes, fanfair, or sponsors. Just riders out to do a good deed to help the Park out. I have 15 trash grabbers, safety vests, trash bags, and a big pickup to haul the trash away.

Since Schaeffer is closed for the season, afterwards we’ll do a very chill & casual ride of one of the other local trails, such as Seneca Ridge or the Hoyes Mill Trail. And if anyone wants to grab a beer at a local pub, I’ll buy the 1st round…

We will meet at the Baseball Fields Parking Lot at South Germantown Recreation Park. That is the Parking lot right by the Circle on Schaeffer Rd and Germantown Park Rd.

Thanks to everyone who came out today. We started with three mountain bikers out picking up trash along Schaeaffer Farm Road from South Germantown Rec Park to The Schaeffer Farm Trails Area parking lot. We collected six 55-gallon bags of trash from this area.

Then when I was loading the bags of trash into my pickup, two riders were leaving Schaeffer. I convinced them to help clean a bit more... We picked up another two completely full bags of trash, and five old tired from the next 1/4 mile of road. I'd say not too bad for 5 people working three hours...

Take a look at the photos attached to the MeetUp...

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
