We are a very inclusive distance training group. All ages and paces are welcome. Our members include those who run, run/walk or walk. Some enjoy half-marathons or shorter, while others love marathons or longer. Some like to run on roads and others like to hit the trails. We are small and growing and would love new members to grow with us. There is no cost. Our goal is to encourage each other in meeting our running goals for this year, whatever those may be.
Check out our calendar and join us when you can. Our typical runs include:
Mondays at the track - we run on a soft, bouncy, well-maintained track. Everyone can run their own pace, do speedwork, drills, run, walk, or whatever works for your training plan.
Tuesdays and Thursdays at Park Park - we run through the neighborhoods around Parr Park. These are hilly neighborhoods, so it is excellent training. Sometimes people are surprised at how many hills there are in this one area. There is also a trail through the park that is flat if you want to bring a buddy and run in the park instead.
Wednesday mornings at TCC - we run on a black asphalt trail that winds through the field around the tennis courts. It is a one-mile trail. Everyone can run their own pace. Some use this morning for heart-rate training, others use it for speedwork.
Wednesday evenings at Bedford Boys Ranch - we run on the sidewalk path that winds around the Bedford Boys Ranch. Most of the group is doing run/walk intervals. We also offer beginner training programs for 5k and 10k programs as a volunteer service for the Bedford Boys Ranch. Starting dates are advertised through Bedford Boys Ranch publications.
Saturday mornings - we run with The Running Family, the friendliest running group in the state of Texas. The route is different each week, and water stations are provided along the route complete with water, gatorade, wet towels in the summer, and snack items, sometimes freshly-baked by the runner planning that week's route. There are always a couple distance option to choose from with the ability to shorten or lengthen it based on your training plan. Many people stay afterward for breakfast and good conversation. All paces are welcome. Some people run, some walk, some do run/walk intervals.
Other runs - we also run on the trails. Our favorite local trails include Big Cedar, Cedar Ridge Preserve, Eagle Mountain, Northshore, and Boulder Park. If you like trail runs, watch the calendar for scheduled meetups and join us.
We are hoping to increase the runs offered over time to give everyone more opportunities.
Please always bring water to any of the runs you join. Let me know if you have any questions.
