Dinner Meeting w/special speaker

Hello Everyone,

Mark your calendar for the upcoming Dinner Meeting to be held at 5:00 PM, Sunday, January 26, 2014. In keeping with the “Humanist” component of our organization, we feature educational programs at our monthly Dinner Meetings that cover a broad range of topics of interest to the membership besides topics related to religion.

MMAH member Norma Bauer will be our featured speaker this month. Norma is a retired employment specialist and a political activist who will be presenting on Criminal Justice, Public Safety, and Cost Savings in Michigan. She will share well-documented research on ways to ensure public safety while diverting much-needed tax dollars from the prisons to preventive efforts like education and health care, including mental health and substance abuse programs. Her presentation will include prospective legislation to create needed reforms, a list of statewide advocacy organizations, and local resources that support re-entry.

Norma's qualifications to speak on this subject stem from extensive self-directed studies and from her years of experience serving hundreds of inmates, probationers, exonerees, and ex-offender parolees all over the state.

Dinner and Socializing will be from 5 to 6:15 PM.

Program will start at 6:30 PM.

Great presentation, Norma. You brought up good points for us all to know that will increase our awareness and sensitivity in this area. Gerry was right, Criminal "Justice" is an oxymoron.
