Dinner Meeting w/Special Speaker

Hello everyone,

Mark your calendar for the upcoming MMAH Dinner Meeting to be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013. We had a speaker who lectured on climate change at our Dinner Meeting that was held on September 26, 2010.  But in light of  the recent devastating weather events that occurred like that of Hurricane Sandy, it is timely to revisit this subject and be reminded of what we might have forgotten from the previous presentation and be informed on the latest update on this subject.

We are pleased in having Professor Joe Messina to be our featured speaker at this upcoming Dinner Meeting.  He will be lecturing on Global Climate Change: Responding to the Skeptics.

About the speaker

Professor Joe Messina received his Ph.D. (2001) in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He explores the relationships among people and the environment around the world by  combining field experiences with spatial simulation models. He has worked in the Ecuadorian Amazon, the deserts of Northwestern China, and savannah of East Africa. At MSU he is affiliated with the Department of Geography, the Center for Global Change and Earth Observations, and AgBioResearch. He has received awards from NIH and NASA and was 2005 MSU/Sigma Xi Young Scholar of the Year.

Dinner and Socializing will be from 5:00 PM to 6:15 PM.
Presentation will start at 6:30 PM.

Professor Messina did an excellent job of rebutting the arguments made by climate change skeptics. It was also nice to see slides based on statistical modeling.
